ABOUT

Noa Silversten is a Melbourne-based performer, composer, and educator specialising in contemporary classical music for electric bass. He performs solo and chamber repertoire while maintaining proficiency in guitar, as well as having experience playing other stringed instruments such as the baroque guitar and the sanxian.

Noa pursued higher education at the University of Melbourne within the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, developing a foundation in classical performance alongside a broader interest in contemporary and experimental practices. During this time, he refined his approach toward the electric bass within classical contexts, while continuing to explore a range of other stringed instruments and diverse musical influences.

Following his studies, Noa has built a multifaceted career as both an educator and performer, currently conducting private/semi-private lessons at a secondary school and at The Plucked String, a classical music education centre focused on accessible, high-quality string training.

Through both roles, he works closely with various students, advancing not only their technical skill but also fostering a genuine curiosity around the world of music. Alongside his teaching, Noa continues to perform and collaborate within contemporary classical spaces, contributing to new work and expanding the role of the electric bass within the field.
